Hide forum subcategories

Hi,

I am working with the latest release of NTS KQuartz and I need to hide some forum subcategories from the forum index. I tried using the kunena "display settings" options, but they don't work with this template. I searched this forum for tips too, but with little results.

Is there some workaround to mask/hide some forum subcategories from the index, maybe via custom css?
