Hide subcategories at top of topic page in NTS-Kpop template

I'd love a template option to hide the categories list when reading a topic. It takes up a lot of screen real estate (see screenshot-1), and when there are no subcategories to the category the topic is in it still displays the headers (see screenshot-2) and is very confusing to the flow of the page.
