"subscribe to topic" by default "on" since update!

Hi,
two days ago I implemented the latest version of this template, and suddenly all users seem to be subscribed to every topic they replied to! In Joomla/Kunena the default setting was and still is "NO" so the only explanation for this sudden behavior must be the new version of this template!? Is this a known bug?
